Top Ten Tuesday (14)

Top Ten Books to Read in A Day:
Okay, I have the tendency to do this a lot due to my commute and my obsessive reading tendencies. I'll just have to be picky with the list!
1. The Hunger Games/Catching Fire/Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
I just reread all of these and I sped through them like I had never read them before. The suspense Suzanne Collins creates is so well done that I felt like I had never read them before and needed to know everything. They're just so damn good.
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
I read most of the Harry Potter books in one day when I first got my copies (either at midnight or that one unfortunate time that I had to wait TWO WHOLE DAYS after the release of Order of the Phoenix to read it) but the last one is a must-read-in-one-day deal. I stayed home from my cousin's graduation party to read this (also, it was July and they don't have air conditioning). If you haven't gotten there yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
3. I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga
Sorry, I'm not going to shut up about this book for awhile. IT WAS SO GOOD AND I JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THE WHOOOOLE TIME. I was so annoyed that I had to go to sleep while I was reading it.
4. Everneath by Brodi Ashton
I snuck pages of this one at work so I could race to the end. I needed to know what happened to Nikki--does she return to the Everneath or does she find a way to stay on Earth?

5. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Definitely one of the best contemporaries I've read. I sped through this one and was so sad when it was over.
6. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
I knew I would read Anna's companion novel just as quickly, if not more. I almost held off on reading it, but in the end I read it right after and just as fast as Anna. So well written.
7. The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour
I love books about road trips and wish there were more about teenage bands. LaCour's novel created the perfect read. Its unexpected emotional aspect kept me reading quickly in order to find out what happened to Colby and Bev.

8. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
I had a few small issues with that book, but it didn't stop me from reading the whole 400+ page book in one night. The idea was great and full of suspense, even with issues, I'd recommend it! Especially if, like me, you were home sick one night and ran out of Tim Burton movies you wanted to watch that day.
9. The Lying Game by Sara Shepard
These books are quick, easy to read mysteries. They fly by! I usually read them in a sitting or two.
10. Fracture by Megan Miranda
I just love this book. It's pretty much contemporary with a touch of paranormal. I read this one in one day so I could find out what happened to Delaney.
BONUS: White Cat by Holly Black
Because I just couldn't leave it off the list.

  1. Must get to Everneath! I Hunt Killers looks a bit too intense for my usual, but the reviews are so good!

  2. Also: just noticed you're reading Cinder right now. For some reasons, I've held off of reading it, despite the reviews. I will be really interested to read your thoughts on it.

    1. I had my reservations about it as well, but I thought it was a good read. The author definitely did something really different! I'll be posting a review sometime in the near(ish) future :)

  3. Such a good list. I want to read a Stephanie Perkins book soon. Everyone is raving about them. I have Everneath as one of my next books to read because this month I'm reading Angel & Demon books for my book club. My Top Ten Tuesday
